We Can All Learn the Importance of Being Prepared...

This past week in Colorado has been a rough one for our friends in Boulder County and Loveland. However, if we can learn anything from both the Fourmile Fire and the Reservoir Road Fire it is that disasters can spring up when we least expect them. When it comes to your pets, it is always important to make sure you have planned ahead and have a disaster kit ready. Here are some tips and places you can go to learn more about this:

- Put a 'rescue alert' sticker on the window near your front door, alerting help to the pets that are in your home.

- Have an idea of where you can take your pets if you do receive notice of evacuation or need to leave in a hurry.

- Put together an emergency kit (recommended items can be found here: http://www.aspca.org/pet-care/disaster-preparedness/ )

- Choose designated caregivers

There are many websites that provide great information - it's always better to be prepared.

Also, a reminder that the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region took in many dogs from the Humane Society of Boulder Valley. They, along with our many available pets, are ready to find their forever home. Visit us this week!
